Fire Extinguisher Training

A fire in the University is an emergency which causes the greatest concern for staff and students. If all staff accept that fire prevention is their responsibility, the potential for fires can be greatly reduced and the severity of any fire that does start will be minimised. Training in the use of fire extinguishers and fire hose reels will help staff prevent a fire from becoming larger or even better, to extinguish the fire before the emergency services arrive.

Try our fire fighting self assessment quiz to help you decide if you need to attend this course as a refresher or for the first time.

Learning Outcomes

At the end of this training session, the learner will be able to:

  • Explain and state the four components of fire
  • Describe the different firefighting techniques
  • Describe four different types of extinguishing agents

Note: At this stage there is no practical component. We hope to be able to provide this at a later stage.
