Chemical and Radiological ERT

As the name suggests the team responds to spills or incidents of a chemical or radiological nature. The team may or may not be involved in spill cleanup depending on:

  • the size and nature of the spill
  • directions from the responding emergency services

Response Arrangements

The team can be called out directly, via security or the university Emergency Management Coordinator or via the Risk Management Office. The team is on call 24 hrs a day but it may not be practical to respond to all situations due to travel and leave commitments. The team will not respond when the emergency does not involve chemicals and radiation or involves substances that we are not trained to deal with.
