External Emergency

Very similar to a code yellow emergency but located off campus. A code brown tells us that the offsite emergency may/will impact our campus in some way. Here are some examples of a code brown type emergency:

• Aircraft crash (hot air balloons float close by Parkville all the time for example)
• Truck crashing into a building
• Fire and smoke (car fires, other buildings, bushfire, volcano, etc.)
• Dangerous gas clouds
• Terrorism incident
• Dangerous or aggressive people
• Earthquake

Emergency Action

1. Assess the situation
2. Raise the alarm by contacting Security on (03) 8344 6666 or x46666
3. Explain what sort of emergency it is and how it will affect us
4. Follow instructions given by Security or your BEC
5. Follow the standard procedures for that type of emergency
