20 August 2009: Internal EHS Audit - NAT Workbook released
The University's Internal EHS Audit Workbook has been reissued to incorporate the new National Self Insurer OHS Audit Tool (NAT). The new workbook is now available from the Internal Audit website at the below link:
Background: The University holds a Self Insurance license from WorkSafe Victoria for workers' compensation. As part of its license, it must conform to a nominated audit standard. WorkSafe is currently adopting a new standard, the National Self Insurer OHS Audit Tool (NAT). Transition arrangements for the NAT are detailed on the WorkSafe website. -
5 March 2009: Departmental Survey - Ionising Radiation Management licence renewal
The EHS Unit is asking Heads of Department to return a brief survey regarding their department's use of ionising radiation (if any) and Departmental Radiation Safety Officer (if any) by Friday 13 March 2009. The memorandum was distributed 5 March 2009 via the central circulars list to Heads of Academic and Admin Departments, and is attached for information: SG_HoDs_IonisingRadiation_5Mar09[.doc]. -

December 2007: National Self Insurer OHS Audit Tool
The National Self Insurer OHS Audit Tool (NAT) is available for download from the WorkSafe Victoria website at the below link:

The transition arrangements advised by WorkSafe for use of the NAT are:
Renewal audit: Assessment against Initial Level SafetyMAP, with the option of gap analysis audit against the NAT / Self-audit program: Proposals for either Initial Level SafetyMAP or the NAT will be accepted
Renewal audits 1 January 2009 onwards - Audited & assessed against the new NAT
Note: the University will be subject to a renewal audit in 2008.

November 2007: New OHS Regulations 2007 (Vic)
The Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) Regulations 2007 (Vic) replaces the multiple volumes of OH&S Regulations established under the previous OH&S Act. The new Regulation seeks to clarify aspects of Victoria’s workplace safety laws and brings them more into line with modern workplaces and arrangements. This session provides staff in the University with an overview of the key changes in the new Regulations and their likely impact on current and future University operations. This session will be presented by Stefan Delaney - General Manager, Environment, Health and Safety. The session will also include an informal question and answer time focusing on the OH&S Regulations' impact on specific operations at the University. Enrolment will be recorded in Themis.
